Our Oxford Gap Year Programme students divided the College this week, with a lunchtime debate on free speech.

Chaired by Tobias Jenny, the debate saw a compelling proposal from Malena Dorneman, supported by Krish Pillai and Alexis Pisco, with strong counter arguments from Jasper Canacher and her supporters Anja Segmueller and A-Level student Cassien Beedel.

Arguments both for and against included references to terrorism, dictatorships, hate crimes and more, with impassioned speeches from all parties.

The debate was eventually won by the con side, after much deliberation by Katherine Cauvel, Rebecca Glaser and Alex Blatte.

This great event is just one example of how our OGYP students seek to challenge each other and stretch their minds, and exactly the type of enriching environment we aim to to create for students across all programmes.
