One Year A-Level

Oxford Tutorial College offers nearly 30 different subjects for study at A-Level. Our intensive and focused teaching enables us to prepare students for the A-Level examinations in one year.

Our One Year A-Level classes are designed for four different categories of students; those needing to retake an A-Level over one year; academically able students who have completed their education in their home country at the age of 17, 18 or 19; students wanting to change direction and thus need a subject at A-Level they have not studied since GCSE; students studying the BTEC Business Diploma with us over one year.

A-Level retake students are taught in separate classes from the students in the other categories listed above.

All One Year A-Level subjects, whether taught as a retake or first time subject, have a maximum class size of six students.

5 Term A-Level

Our 5 Term A-Level course begins each January and is aimed at students seeking a fresh start to their A-Levels and to students where their home country curriculum finishes in November or December. With Oxford Tutorial College such students do not need to wait until September to begin A-Levels or make a fresh start, they can do so in January. The first two terms of the 5 Term A-Level programme encompass additional hours for each subject each week such that by the end of June, the January start students have completed the same material as their fellow students who started one term ahead of them.

From the moment you attend your admissions interview you will be given expert guidance and advice on the combination of subjects most appropriate to your academic background and university and career intentions.

The 2018/19 academic year will see the introduction of the final group of reformed A-Levels and all A-Levels will thus contain approximately 20% more material than their predecessors and, in keeping with many other independent schools and sixth form colleges, the A-Level programme at Oxford Tutorial College is built upon the thorough study of three subjects in small classes of no more than six students.

The A-Level programme is complemented by a Study Skills programme and a range of optional co-curricular options. Where required, students will study IELTS (Academic) alongside their A-Level programme of subjects.
